The Backstory
When Richard & Rhonda Thompson decided to invest into Kinsman, Ohio, many people probably were skeptical, to say the least. I mean where is Kinsman anyway? Kinsman is a small farm town located in Northern Trumbull County and is full of rich history. A history that includes Dr. Peter Allen, who moved in 1808 from New England to Kinsman complete with his black bag or herbs and leeches. He is one of the doctors that helped found what later became the Ohio Medical Society.
The historic home, which was built in 1821, was restored by the Thompson family, to its original condition, but with some lovely modern features as well. The Peter Allen home, now called The Peter Allen Inn & Event Center, is now a town favorite as many venture there for lunch, dinner, a weekend getaway, weddings, and much more.
So what all can you do at the Peter Allen Inn?
The Peter Allen Inn isn’t only a piece of history, it’s a breathtaking getaway. Instead of driving up to Geneva for the weekend, or out to Cleveland, keep it local and try all the farm fresh ingredients used in their delicious food. Lunch is served Wednesday-Saturday 11-3 and Sundays 11-4. Dinner has two options, a casual Tavern on the Courtyard outdoor menu, and a 3 or 5-course tasting menu served at 6 or 8 PM (which requires a reservation, as the chef is preparing special one-of-a-kind courses just for you!)
Besides the fantastic dinners, there are 3 different rooms available to stay overnight in, a huge outdoor Grand Canopy for weddings or other events, and live music every Friday and Saturday evening. Just this past weekend, The Peter Allen Inn hosted their inaugural Bridal Showcase, which featured a “fake wedding ceremony” and vendors that brides-to-be could come and meet as well as win prizes from. Among one of the prizes was $1000 shopping spree to Eastwood Mall or David’s Bridal, a prize almost anyone would have loved to have.
Are you looking for a new spot?
Well then travel to Kinsman, Ohio and you will fall in love. It’s a quiet town that will allow you to relax, unwind, and feel like you’re getting away, without actually having to drive to “get away”. They now have a new head chef, Chef Nick that is cooking things up in the kitchen, as well as a new innkeeper Kari, sure to make your stay unforgettable. Finally, they brought on Kevin, the tavern “mixologist” who prepares fresh drinks as well as keeps the wine and beer list up to date with seasonal specials.
Why do we care about PAI?
We love to see our clients grow! The Peter Allen Inn only opened a little over a year ago, and went from private events and one day being open to the public to now serving the public Wednesday-Sunday and looking into a kitchen expansion so they can continue to thrive. If you or anyone you know is looking for something new, point them to Kinsman, because after all, it’s really not that far at all.
