One of our vendors holds an IT conference every year, providing education and partner support to businesses around the world like Micro Doctor IT. This year the event was held September 28-30 in Boston, MA and featured former NBA star Bill Walton, who staggers a mighty 6’11” (see pictured above).
One of the reasons that Micro Doctor IT travels to these type of events is to stay ahead of the technology, and be able to better protect your business and its assets. This year the hot topics were ransomware and cyber security, in which Michael Buratowski, CEO of Fidelis Cybersecurity addressed how he has delt with huge attacks to Home Depot, Staples, The University of California and more.
Every day hackers are out there bidding for cyber crime jobs, and they aren’t going to stop. If you think that your business is too small to be affected, listen to this alarming fact: “43% of spear-phishing attacks were against companies with < 250 employees”. Spear-phishing is a targeted attack in which fradulent emails target specific organizations or individuals within that organization, in an effort to gain access to confidental information (Trend Micro). Micro Doctor IT President Mark Richmond will be talking more about spear-phishing in next month’s Newsletter. This means that hackers are out there trying to penetrate your small or medium business (SMB) and it’s only a matter of time until they get in unless you protect yourself and your assets.
How valuable is your information? What would you do if you lost critical files due to ransomware? Do you have a backup solution that will protect you if an employee accidently clicks a malicous link and your server becomes encypted? These are the questions you need to be able to answer as a business owner or IT manager, and if you can’t, Micro Doctor IT can help. Feel free to give us a call at 330-898-2100 to ask any questions concerning your business and the safety of your data.
