What is at the top of your list?

It may be difficult to remember life before Covid-19. It hasn’t been that long, six to eight weeks and already there is a struggle to recall the memories of normal life.

All of us are creating a list of the things are going to do when businesses can open. Some of these items are things we didn’t care about before they were taken away from us. It is amazing how scarcity increases motivation.

For others this time has allowed for more reflection. In between binge watching movies and tv, some of us found time to ponder things we always wanted to do. The “bucket list” grew longer, or a bucket list was created. For those not familiar with the term, a bucket list is a list of things you want to do before you are unable to do them.

Covid-19 has formed a cousin to the bucket list, and that is the Going to Do list. These lists are filled with activated or items people are “going to do” once they can. Depending on where you live certain activities are prohibited. For example, visiting a restaurant and dining in has been restricted.

Sure, delivery services were gaining in popularity prior to coronavirus, but people enjoyed going out to eat. Some people had friendships with the restaurant staff. Part of being human is social interaction. Even introverts need to interact with people. We just prefer to limit how long we choose to interact.

Haircuts, and trips to the beauty salon score at the top of many lists. The mullet is fighting to return to prominence despite our best efforts to forget this hairstyle ever existed. Covid-19 brought out everyone’s true hair color, and salons and barber shops are going to experience a rush once they reopen.

So, what’s on your list? Trip to the amusement park? Go see a movie in a theater?

Prior to the shutdown my wife and I had several invitations to retirement parties, wedding showers, family reunions, and weddings. A normal year would also see invites to graduation parties, and cookouts.

Some of these events have been put off, while others are still on schedule. My list is going through modifications as announcements are made. My list as of the end of April will be different than my list at the end of May.

If you don’t have a list what are you waiting for? Write down the things you will do when the restrictions are lifted.
